What to look for when buying the best rotary tool

There are four things to look for when buying the best rotary tool for you.

A rotary tool needs enough speed to be able to cut, polish, engrave and do whatever else you want to do with it.

And usually, the higher speed a rotary tool is capable of, the more you can do with it. Some when comparing tools, higher RPM is better.

At a minimum you want a tool capable of at least 20,000 RPM.

How heavy a rotary tool is may not seem important at first. But it can make a big difference if you want to get good results.

Why? Well, the heavier a tool is, the more effort it takes to hold in place. And if you’re struggling to hold the tool in place, it’s going to be difficult to get good results.

So lighter is better when it comes to rotary tools.

Really, anything under 5 pounds should be easy to handle for most people. If you’re on the smaller side, the best rotary tool for you is one around 3 pounds or one of the cordless models.

Power source

Rotary tools use either a power cord or batteries for their power source. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Rotary tools with a power cord don’t run out of power like batteries do. But they have to be used near a power socket.

Rotary tools powered by batteries can be used anywhere, which is a great advantage. But batteries run out and then have to be recharged. So either you need spare batteries or you have to wait while your battery recharges.

The best rotary tools have lots of attachments.

Most tools have attachments for cutting, polishing, carving, engraving, cleaning, polishing. The best tools have attachments so they can be used as a router or even. a drill press.

Look for a tool that has a wide range of attachments and accessories.
